OpenTrade Has Achieved SOC 2 Type 1 Attestation

Elena Beech

As of July 2026, OpenTrade has completed a SOC 2 Type 1 attestation, issued by Prescient Assurance. The report covers the controls that support security across the OpenTrade Platform, independently examined against the AICPA's Trust Services Criteria. Learn more about OpenTrade's security here.

A SOC 2 Type 1 report evaluates whether a company's security controls are suitably designed as of a specific date, assessed by an independent auditor rather than asserted by the company itself. The examination covered the areas that matter when capital and sensitive data sit on a platform.

Access to production systems is role-based and least-privileged, protected by multi-factor authentication and reviewed on a regular cycle. Customer data is encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up, and monitored. Change management runs through documented review and approval before anything reaches production. Incident response, vulnerability scanning, and continuous monitoring operate across the environment, and third-party vendors are assessed against the same security expectations.

Type 1 is a design-point assessment, and it's the foundation for what comes next: a Type 2 examination, which evaluates how those same controls operate over an extended period. We're already building toward it.

Security has never been the feature that institutions get excited about. It's the thing that has to be true before anything else can be. This attestation puts independent evidence behind it.
